Black Cod with Miso Butter & Yuzu

TIME: 15 min // SERVES: 2 // DIFFICULTY: Easy

Black Cod is delicate, but this recipe makes it so bold and delicious! Our Miso Butter, with a touch of Yuzu juice (from our friends at Yuzuco) adds a punch of citrus tang that transforms this fish into a restaurant-level dish — no marinade needed! Just pan, butter, and bliss.

WHAT DO I NEED?

  • 2 cod fillets (about 6-8 oz each)
  • 2 tbsp neutral oil (like avocado oil)
  • 4-5 tbsp Miso Butter
  • 4-5 tbsp Yuzu Juice
  • 1/2 cup AP Flour (cornstarch or rice flour also work, for a gf alternative!)
  • Salt & pepper
  • fresh herbs (like Parsley or chives, for garnish)
  1. Prep the Fish - Pat cod fillets dry and season both sides with salt and pepper. Then lightly dredge in flour on both sides.
  2. Sear it up - Heat oil in a nonstick or stainless steel pan over medium-high. Place cod skin-side down (or presentation side down if skinless). Sear for 2–3 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Butter Baste - Flip fillets, add our Miso Butter and the Yuzu juice to the pan, and spoon melted butter over the fish repeatedly as it finishes cooking (about 2–3 more minutes).
  4. Plate & Serve - plate with rice, greens, and/or noodles, and garnish with some fresh herbs! Don't forget to spoon some extra butter from pan over the top. Enjoy!!
